After darting around the world really quickly this Spring, and then running around the west this Summer and into the Fall, I’m taking the end of the year to stick closer to the Bay area. And so, this week finds me down in Santa Cruz farm sitting. This little farm was my very first stop when I came to the area a year and a half ago, and it played a huge role in me falling in love with it all and sticking around for a bit.
So, for a week I get to wake up with the morning light streaming into the loft of the restored barn on the property. For a week I’ll roll out of bed to do yoga surrounded by timbers milled from the forest out the window. Then I’ll walk over the pond and start taking care of some of my favorite animals on this planet: incredibly vocal dogs, even louder goats, chickens, lots of koi fish, a couple cats, some obscenely fluffy cows, and one very fat horse. My mornings require milking the goats, feeding everyone, cleaning up after them all, and cuddling. So much cuddling. My afternoons I fill with visiting old friends (and making new ones!), hiking, dipping my toes in the Pacific, and re-acquainting myself with all of the local breweries. I’ll be back up in Oakland next week, and from there I’ll plan my next trip. Right now that’s looking like a road trip across the country, and then some time in Costa Rica. Catch up with me before I head out again! Until then, please feel free to enjoy these pictures I snapped while out hot spring hounding in Nevada last month.
